Nokia made a new firmware 2.0 for N97 smartphone. The update already available for free download from the Nokia Software Update website or via the menu on the phone. The installs a huge list of fixes, including a “soft” scroll with ‘flip scrolling’. Also available are “hot” keys for quick access to the homescreen with their preferences, a new version of Ovi Maps 3.1 with 3D maps, some component updates for Nokia E-mail, Ovi Contacts and Ovi Store.

Facebook has recently announced that they are gearing up to launch version 3.0 of their iphone and iPod app. If you are waiting for Facebook push notifications a la iPhone OS 3.0, you’re going to be disappointed, because it doesn’t add it.

However, the announcement says that the Facebook 3.0 iPhone app is about 98% done with no real release date announced. They also added that users should expect a 3.1 update before the end of this summer that will add the much sought after Push Notifications.

Nokia made a new firmware version available for the Nokia N97. The new firmware version for the device, namely 11.0.021. The update installs a huge list of fixes, including stabilized widgets, better photo gallery control, and fixed user interface transitions.

There are also a series of widget UI improvements included in the new software, such as the new facebook widget that fixes a problem of Home Screen background visible on soft-key area. The firmware 11.0.021 also comes with a series of UI transition error fixes (Portrait to/from landscape transition).
