As i’ve mentioned in my previous post, also reported on various information sources such as PC World, that iPhone OS 3.0 will officially launching Wednesday, June 17. Yes, it’s today. Unfortunately, iPhone OS 3.0 has not yet been released at the time i am writing this post (at around 8:45:40 AM PDT-UTC/GMT -7 hours, current time in Cupertino, CA). So what time exactly, i don’t know yet, but possibly in the next few hours.

It’s will be released, however, both for iPhone users and iPod touch across the world. All of the current iPhone owners of course, can download the software from iTunes for free, and iPod Touch users can get it as well, but for a fee of $9.95-$10, just like the last OS update.

The iPhone OS 3.0 includes some great new features, such as multimedia messaging (if supported by your carrier–AT&T won’t offer it until later this summer), voice recording, buying and renting movies and TV shows over the air, full system search, tethering (again, if your carrier allows it), and push notifications.

Also, iPhone OS 3.0 adds “cut and paste” works across all applications and has undo support. It will also be developer friendly. Users can now type in landscape mode in Mail, Notes, and Messages. MMS allows you to send and receive photos, audio files, and locations over the cell network in real time, all in the same app. AT&T support is coming later this summer for MMS. The feature also adds audiobook download support to the iPhone’s integrated iTunes Store for the first time, and permits direct-from-device video rentals as well and so many more…
