Foxconn Will Ship Sony PS3 Slim This Month?

This’s just a rumor, i don’t know whether it’s right or not. But to be honest, the rumors on the internet claim that a Sony PS3 Slim is all set to go up for sale this month. That’s right, according to Digitimes, Foxconn is scheduled to kick off shipments of the new PS3 starting in July, 2009 (yes, this month). Still, the report said that Foxconn and Pegatron also will be manufacturing this revised version.

Yesterday, however, Joystiq featured a rumor report that appeared on Chinese UDN. And today, Foxconn issued a statement declining to comment on a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report indicating that it has landed OEM orders for a slim Sony PS3.

The rumors also claim that the PS3 Slim is the last model of this generation. The next-gen console will be based on Sony’s motion controller and will be released somewhere in 2010.

It has also been speculated that the launch of the Sony PS3 Slim will most probably coincide with the Sony PS3 price cuts. This price slash is rumored to be announced in August this year.

Anyway, the Sony PS3 Slim will be made available at a price of around $299 USD.
