HP EliteBook 8740w Mobile Workstation getting NVIDIA Quadro 5000M

HP is going to ship the EliteBook 8740w mobile workstation with the newly announced NVIDIA Quadro 5000M graphics card, according to Electronista. The 17-inch workstation is powered by up to Core i7 Extreme Edition and up to 16GB of RAM.

The Quadro FX 5000M has 320 CUDA cores and 2GB of GDDR5 memory. The 8740w meets tough military standards (MIL-STD 810G) for vibration, dust, humidity, altitude and extreme temperatures and features HP DuraCase with magnesium-alloy structure, hardened steel pin axels and scratch-resistant HP DuraFinish and HP 3D DriveGuard for hard drive protection.

The HP EliteBook 8740w starts at $1999.

Chinese company Yision is launching a case for the iPod touch called the Apple Peel 520, which will make the iPod touch capable of making phone calls. The case is powered by Infineon chip and comes with built-in 800mAh battery for up to 4.5 hours of talk time.

In order to really make calls and text, users probably have to jailbreak their iPod touch and install Yision’s phone and text apps. The price will be about 300-500 Chinese Yuan and the case will come in black, white and gray colors.
